General Information:
A: There are many benefits to using our system. First and foremost, how many times have you been at a parking meter only to discover that you didn't have enough pocket change to park your car? EPPS TM eliminates the need to carry around coins to park your car. Another benefit is peace of mind - you don't have to worry about the meter expiring if your activities take longer than expected. The system continues your parking time until you tell it to stop, or until the maximum time allowed for the parking meter has been reached. You can also legally park at a meter when it is broken or out of operations think of it as an advantage over the “coin users”. You also get a statement that shows all of your parking transactions for the month. This can come in handy if you are able to use parking as a business expense. Q: If I am at a meter with a New Parking sticker on it, can I still use coins? A: Certainly. A key advantage of our system is that we don't change the meter. The parking meter still operates as always if you don't wish to use the EPPSTM system. Q: Is a cellular phone absolutely required? A: Yes. You need to be able to phone in right from the parking meter so that you can enter the correct parking meter ID. Likewise, you need to be able to stop the parking meter right from the parking meter. This way, you avoid the possibility of getting a fine if you stop the transaction too early. You also have to have caller ID enabled on your phone, otherwise you cannot use the service. Q: Does it matter which mobile carrier I use? A: Not at all. Q: Can I use your system for any parking meter? A: No. The parking meter must have a New ParkingTM sticker on it to be used with our system. Q: I'm legally parked using your system, but the meter still says, "expired". How does a Parking Enforcement Officer know that I'm legally parked? A: The parking officials have access to our system too. They access our system via a handheld device to determine who is currently parking using our system. Q: What happens if I get a parking violation even though I was parked legally? A: If this happens, give us a call. We will provide you with a detailed list of the transactions and meter numbers when you were parking with our system. Rest assured that every transaction you make using New Parking EPPS is logged in our servers and so we can easily trace down details of your call. Try that when you pay by coins! Q: What happens to my personal information after I give it to New Parking Inc.? A: We only use it to bill you. Please see Privacy policy for more info. Q: What happens if my cell phone battery dies? A: Not to worry. If you are close to the parking limit, you don’t have to worry about calling back. You will never pay for more as the maximum legal parking time is for that parking meter. Q: The voice sounds weird, why? A: You are listening to a computer-generated voice. New Parking is using leading edge technologies, and so instead of pre-recorded voice files so common with interactive telephone systems, we are using “TTS” also known as Text-to-Speech technology, where the voice you hear is generated by a computer in the real time. It has many advantages, such as we can tell you what parking meter number you were parked. For more info on TTS please visit http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/T/TTS.html or www.naturalvoices.att.com/demos/ or www.bytecool.com/. Q: When entering parking meter number, is “5” the same as “05”? A: No. Remember, the system is fully automated and it will interprete”05” as different number as “5” and most likely you get an error message that the meter number is not valid.
Billing Information Q: Are there any extra charges to use the system? A: No. There are no charges to use EPPS - you pay the same amount of money as you would if you used coins. And you don’t have to guess how much time you actually end up spending at the parking meter. Q: Are there any payment options other than credit card? A: We can set you up to do pre-authorized debit from your banking account and prepayment, but that takes a bit longer than a credit card. Q: Can I use my parent's credit card? A: If your parents call us to set up the account, and register it under your cell phone number, that is fine. As long as the credit card owner gives us authorization to charge their credit card, you can use it with their permission. Q: How do I see a list of my parking transactions? A: We will email you an statement at the end of each billing period that contains the details of all of your parking transactions for the month. If you don't have an email address, we can mail you a paper copy. What if… Q: What if my caller ID is turned off? A: Sorry, you have to have caller ID turned on. As many other intelligent, interactive telephone based services, we absolutely need your caller ID to identify you. Q: What if I drop the call? A: Well, that can happen. If you are not sure whether your transaction went through, please call main number again and listen to the messages. If you hear “There is a parking transaction…” then you are parked. Q: What if I dial your access number and I get a busy signal? A: We made an extra effort for this not to happen, but if it does (too many people are calling us at the same time) please call again. If it happens, we are becoming too popular! Q: What if I get a message “The system can only be used when calling from a mobile phone” and yet I am calling from a mobile phone? A: Please contact our customer support at 1-866-239-4606 and they can add your number to the system. Q: What if I am all of a sudden transferred to customer service? A: Our system is programmed in such a way that any three incorrect entries trigger automatic transfer to operator so they can help you. Q: What if your system does not work? A: If you receive a technical error message, please use coins to pay for your parking.
